Britt Möricke__typographer, writer, lecturer

Typography for the haters, the skeptics, and the eye-rollers.

After 18 years of teaching typography, I know the hardest students are the ones who seem not to care, but secretly, they care the most.

That’s who I’m here for.

How?
I dig past the clichés.

I write about typography.
I give talks that teach and entertain.

The book__I Hate Typography

I’m writing a book about typography for students who hate it__those who find it boring, complicated, or just another set of rules.

I believe I have something to say. And something to share.

But I’ve been circling around it for years.

Making notes, collecting ideas, scribbling fragments on paper, building a wall above my desk that holds the entire book. Messy, intuitive. Chaos in order.

__BUT NOW I’M READY.

Writing is a joy. Writing is an agony. It has given me clarity. It has made me doubt everything. It has opened things up and closed others down.

The book will be a mix of fiction and nonfiction. Not a guide to show you how to do things, but to tell you why. Classroom stories, personal questions, pieces of theory.

Exercises will be included for practice.
